Laurie Wallace’s career began as a caseworker at The Haven, a local battered women’s shelter, while in college. After noticing a gap in services for the children of battered women, she started a program to address the needs of this vulnerable population. She became the first Executive Director of The Children’s Advocacy Center and remained there for nine years. Laurie began a private counseling practice in 2004 and remained there until her first child was born in 2007. She stayed home to care for her 3 children for the next eight years.
During her time as a full-time mom, she remained involved in her field, attending continuing education seminars and maintaining her license. After her youngest child began school, Laurie became the school counselor at St John Catholic School where she worked for six years. There she worked one-on-one with children and implemented programs for all students to address cyber-safety, bullying, avoiding lures and more. Her therapy experience is comprehensive and includes, including eating disorder treatment, depression and anxiety ( in both children and adults), as well as marital problems.
